AgenticFM Has Given Me Years of Development Power in Just Months
It feels less like a coding tool and more like having a highly capable software engineer available whenever needed.
I have been part of the AgenticFM Plugin beta testing program since the very beginning in May 2026. Before the plugin existed, I was already using the open-source version of AgenticFM and it quickly became one of my most valuable daily tools for working with my FileMaker databases.
The AgenticFM Plugin takes everything to another level. It dramatically simplifies the process of integrating AgenticFM into a FileMaker solution. From installing the plugin to setting up the required privilege sets and scripts, you can be up and running in 15 minutes or less if you already have a CLI agent installed.
I'm a California General B Contractor based in Southern California. My work spans ADUs, new home construction, rental property renovations, and property management. In addition, I help operate my family's real estate portfolio, which includes approximately $15 million in assets, over 30 rental units, dozens of tenants, and several employees.
Although I come from a software development background, my focus today is primarily on construction and real estate operations. As a result, database development often gets pushed aside unless a feature is absolutely necessary or a major problem needs solving.
Agentic programming has completely changed that.
Features that previously required days or weeks of planning, development, testing, and deployment can now be implemented in a matter of hours. AgenticFM removes much of the friction that traditionally prevented me from improving stable systems.
Our real estate business constantly faces changing requirements—tax code updates, lease modifications, utility billing regulations, new reporting requirements, and operational changes that come with portfolio growth. Every year, I need to create new software features that often don’t exist in any commercial real estate platform because they’re tailored specifically to our business processes.
AgenticFM has been incredibly effective at understanding what already exists in our database, researching relevant documentation, analyzing requirements, and helping implement solutions directly into our FileMaker system. It feels less like a coding tool and more like having a highly capable software engineer available whenever needed.
One area where AgenticFM has been especially valuable is utility sub-metering. As we continue building ADUs on existing properties, we must accurately track and bill tenants for water, gas, and electrical usage. Prior to AgenticFM, I had built a separate local web application to interact with our metering APIs. While it worked, it existed outside of our primary real estate management system.
Using AgenticFM, I was able to leverage the existing API infrastructure and integrate those capabilities directly into our FileMaker database. What previously required multiple systems now operates within a single platform.
Another major success has been banking and accounting automation. We partnered with Plaid to connect financial institutions and pull transaction data into our systems. AgenticFM helped build the infrastructure necessary to connect multiple banks, import transactions, retrieve mortgage information, and organize financial data directly within FileMaker.
This has expanded beyond simple transaction imports into receipt OCR processing, automated transaction matching, and AI-assisted accounting workflows. Instead of jumping between multiple banking applications, much of our financial management now occurs within a single unified system.
The result has been a dramatic increase in efficiency throughout our organization.
Looking back at everything we've built since adopting AgenticFM, I can confidently say it has given me what feels like two years' worth of development capability in less than two months. As someone who balances software development with construction, property management, and business operations, that kind of leverage is transformational.
